Nuts, Bolts and Thingamajigs Scholarships. FMA's Foundation awards scholarships annually to students in courses of study that may lead to careers in manufacturing. Through its manufacturing summer camps and scholarships, NBT is inspiring the next generation of manufacturers, inventors and entrepreneurs ... one tinkerer at a time. This site contains information on the urgent need to engage young people in career preparation for well-paid, fulfilling jobs that require hands-on skills. The mission of Nuts, Bolts and Thingamajigs is to nurture the tinkering spirit.

Nuts, Bolts and Thingamajigs Scholarships
1. Applicants must be full‐time students with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA for a university scholarship or 2.5 GPA for a trade school or community or technical two‐year college scholarship and enrolled in a manufacturing‐related course of study that will lead to a career in the manufacturing technology sector.

2. Upon award notification, winners must become a member of FMA, TPA, or OPC if no active membership‐affiliation exists in any one of the following categories: 1) winner is a student or basic member; 2) winner is the child of a basic member; 3) winner is an employee of an Advantage‐level member company; or 4) winner is the child of an employee of an Advantage‐level member company.

3. University scholarships up to $1,500 are available. Trade school and community and technical two‐year college scholarships up to $1,500 are available.

4. Students must complete 1) an on‐line application; 2) submit a program description for the intended major; and 3) an official high school or college transcript. Incomplete, faxed or applications sent by mail are ineligible. Online applications and all supporting materials must be received by NBT prior to 5 p.m., CST, on the established deadline.

5. A scholarship award may be used to defray the cost of tuition, school fees, and/or books. Awards cannot be used for housing or meals, nor can they be held for use beyond the school year in which awarded.

6. Annual award amounts and the numbers of scholarships available will be determined by the NBT Board of Directors. The NBT board may create new scholarship categories at its discretion.

7. Scholarship winners are responsible for advising Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs of any change in mailing address. Send notifications to foundation@fmanet.org or call (815) 399‐8700.

8. NBT will investigate any suspected misuse of funds and/or seek recovery of disbursed funds if misuse is determined. Recovered funds will be dedicated for charitable purposes.

9. NBT will retain records pertaining to receipt of donations to the scholarship fund and disbursement and use of scholarship funds.

10. Staff, directors and officers of FMA, FMAC, OPC, NBT or members of the Scholarship Committee of Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs, as well as their children and relatives are ineligible.

11. In case of a tie score between applicants, the Scholarship Committee and NBT staff will determine a winner.
